Check Out My Latest Work

Saturday, March 26, 2011

It's not my first panorama but it is of right now the longest one. Was excited to see the final result.

It's composed of 15 images put together by Canon's PhotoStitch and then reduced in size and quality so I could put it up here.

These are beautiful heels from India made by Mac Ho. I designed a magazine Ad for them and gave them their own name and a logo.
I did a bit of research on how magazines ad are supposed to be formatted.
Some of the links I checked out.
It all started with a mindmap.-

I looked Mac Ho up but all I got were macho men in India so I decided to give them another name.

Next I took many pictures, adjusting the white balance with a custom one to give it a pure white background.-
Many, many pictures

Adjusting the RAW image file on Digital Photo Professional by Canon
Next I put it into Adobe Photoshop-
To get the same lighting effect I used the Liquify tool under Filter, choosing the Forward Warp Tool. I pushed the white background around the shoes to fill in the work area.

After that I added a few paintbrushes.

For the logo and text I used Adobe Illustrator because Adobe Photoshop messes up text-
Using the Pen tool I made a heel shape and used the font Riesling from dafont.com. I added a drop shadow effect to the text by going to Effect->Stylize->Drop Shadow...

Dragged the file back into Adobe Photoshop
By using Window->Arrange-> Cascade -I was able to use the Move Tool to drag the Illustrator file into my work.

I felt like I never really saw this building for what it really is before holding a camera to do this assignment.

This is the TEL building which is shared by York University and Seneca College. It's architecture is different than other buildings and shares a warm feeling.

To do this assignment I was at school at 8 in the morning when no one was really there, and went shooting away. I found many things that I didn't notice before.

I started by crossing the bridge that connects the Seneca College building with the TEL building.

This is right after you exit the bridge.

If you go to the right, you'll find comfy chairs and tables.

To the left, down a bit of the hallway is a Seneca computer lab.

This is the end view of the hallway after climbing the stairs.

Interesting ceiling of light fixtures.

Looking back down on the floor after climbing stairs.

I was most surprised to find text on the ceiling in a hallway.

More comfy chairs and large windows letting the sun in.

Wonderfully designed staircases.

At the bottom near the entrance.

The entrance to the TEL building.

Madreal was the artist that I was given to research on. Taking inspiration from Derrick Hodgson's work, I then created my own piece of art based on his style. His style is flat linear art with splotches of paint in the background and foreground.

For this assignment I first had wrote down everything that I wanted in my art and then quickly drew a rough sketch- not knowing that I wouldn't be able to replicate it as well as I had done in my rough draft. I gave up and used my initial rough sketch and scanned and put it in Illustrator(- not being successful with PhotoShop and Corel Painter Essentials). Using my tablet I then traced my sketch and changed a few details from my original plan.

I had created creatures just like Hodgson did in a flat linear line art style. Adding light colors and then using those same colors in the splotches of ink. I used scribbles for the tree and flowers and put in my own idea of giving the creatures a bit of a wash and hanging them to dry.
